So, here’s what’s goin’ on with the PTO:

KidStuff Sales have ended. PTO profit is just over $1,500. Thanks to everyone who participated or sent their books in promptly. (I’ve still got to hunt down a few more people...If you are one of those people, please send your book or payment in.)

Our first bake sale made a profit of $334!! Thank you so much to Michele Schreck and all the moms (and Martin McElroy, of course) who helped make the sale a success. Thanks, too, to all the parents who donated the yummy treats.

I’m super excited about November’s PTO meeting. It will be on

TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 6TH IN THE GYM.

At 7:00 I will be doing a presentation on

"Going Green in Your Home"

We will be distributing FREE SAMPLES

of eco-friendly products.

The regularly scheduled PTO meeting will begin promptly at 7:30.

Dinner/Dance/Tricky Tray

We’ve got a date and venue!!!

Friday, February 29th at Gatsby’s in Cresskill.

This is a great "parent’s night out". Grab a sitter and put on your dancin’ shoes! Ali McMahon and her committee are actively receiving donations to raffle off at the event. It’s sure to be a blast.

YOUR MONEY AT WORK:

We had our first cultural arts program on October 17th. Sadeckey’s Puppets came in and put on two performances. The kids loved it. Thanks to Je nny Lenge for making all the arrangements.

PTO purchased a new refrigerator for the faculty room. We bought a beautiful, energy star rated one a couple of weeks ago. A special thank you to Harvey’s Discount Appliance on River Road for giving us a great price on the fridge.

Halloween Movie Day was Sunday, October 28th.

"Walter and Gromit: The Case of the Were-Rabbit" showed at 12pm,

Disney’s "Halloweentown" showed at 2:30.

We had a great turn out. All the kids enjoyed themselves.  A special thanks to Mr. Jones and Mr. R for your help with the day!!

Recipe Exchange:

Due to the overwhelming response of delicious recipes I received from eager moms and dads (not a single one...thanks...)

I am giving you all one of my own recipes.

Blueberry Muffins, submitted by: well, me...

Preheat oven to 375°

½ c. butter, soft

3/4 c. granulated sugar

2 eggs

1tsp. vanilla

2c. flour

2tsp. baking powder

½ tsp. salt

½ c. milk

1 ½ c. blueberries (I like to use fresh blueberries. Put them on a baking sheet and sprinkle with sugar. Put in the oven for 15 minutes at 325°.)

Streusel topping:

2tbsp. flour, 2tbsp. brown sugar, 1/4 tsp. cinnamon, 2tbsp. butter, chilled. To make streusel, combine all ingredients with a fork. (It should be lumpy.)

Cream butter, sugar and eggs (one at a time). Stir in vanilla. Add dry ingredients, alternately, with milk. Fold in blueberries. Pour into greased muffin/cupcake pan. Sprinkle streusel over tops and bake about 12-18 minutes (depending upon what size muffin pan you’re using.)

**I’ll make mini muffins for November’s meeting**
