Welcome to Berkley School

Welcome to Berkley School! As you enter our building you will be surrounded by the sounds and sights of a school that is truly child-centered. When I visit classrooms, I can see the excitement and vitality of both the students and their teachers as they prepare for a new school year. I am thrilled to see polite, respectful children who are eager to learn new things.

Our children benefit from a school community that is united in its vision to work in the best interests of its students. Successful learning is achieved through the commitment of outstanding teachers who are dedicated to creating positive, nurturing, and academically challenging experiences for children. Parental involvement is essential in establishing positive habits and attitudes for a child’s success in school.

Our language arts program focuses on a balanced literacy approach. Students are immersed in a literature based program that includes phonics, leveled reading materials, and a writing process approach that allows students to develop their skills as readers and writers. Celebrations are planned to allow our young authors to share their writing with their parents! Kindergarten and first grade children begin instruction in the Every Day Math program. Older students will discover strategies in problem solving using the Singapore Math approach.

We are fortunate to have a computer lab that allows our students to use technology to enhance learning. Students and teachers have access to on-line services for formal lessons and to collect information for classroom projects. Students learn many useful functions including how to create graphs or power point presentations, as well as word processing applications.

Our Parent Teacher Organization is an active group that provides many worthwhile programs and events that directly benefit our students. Their monthly meetings are posted on our calendar and they welcome your participation. I thank them for their support and contributions for our students.

Welcome to my desk! My name is Ms. Auerbach and I am Berkley School's Full-Time Secretary. I am here to help you by answering all of your questions and to deliver all of those forgotten lunches and home work assignments. Please know that you can find me everyday from 8:00 am to 4:00 p.m.

Hi! My name is Donna Corrado. I am the secretary for the two grammar schools, Berkley Street School and B.F. Gibbs School. Some days you will see me in the office in the morning and some days in the afternoon.
