Ever since I was a middle school student, I wanted to teach middle school. I did not love school when I was a student, so I thought if I could teach then I could make kids like it more than I did. I went to Monmouth University, where I majored in Special Education with a concentration in Middle Level Learning and History. I thought I would be a Social Studies teacher, but after teaching at Demarest Middle School for a year, I came to David E. Owens as a Language Arts teacher. I have loved being in the ELA department and could not imagine teaching anything else.

 

My Language Arts goal every year is to have my students become better readers and writers! That goal can look different for each student, but I look forward to everyone growing in their reading and writing ability throughout the year.
