December promises to be another busy month in fourth grade.  Students will continue to develop their ability to communicate ideas in a clear, concise, organized language and apply grammar and language mechanics in their writing as they write to express ideas, entertain, persuade, and share information on a variety of topics including this month’s holidays.  Authentic literature selections will continue to be utilized to further the development of vocabulary, comprehension, and higher level thinking skills.  Students will also learn about the properties of multiplication and division, apply a variety of appropriate problem-solving strategies to solve problems that arise in math and other disciplines, explain how air movement in the atmosphere affects weather conditions, and describe New Jersey’s regions and resources.

After having spent most of November gathering information for their Celebrate NJ topics through on-line research, students are eager to use word processing software in the media center to begin writing their articles.  The Celebrate NJ program is a state-wide, 4th grade writing contest that engages students in research, reading, and writing and promotes the development of computer skills as they learn about many aspects of New Jersey history, people, places and events. did a nice job with their oral reports as well. Keep up the great work!
